Google Can Draw Your Selfie Using An Algorithm. The Perfect Selfie?
Under Googles monster umbrella of activities lies Android Experiments.
On their agenda recently was the Selfie.
Dubbed IOIO and pronounced YoYo, the selfie machine produced by them plots your face on to paper or in theory, any material surface you wish.
There isn’t an actual machine you can purchase but the creator has released the code that was created resulting in an open source platform you can dig your teeth into. Thats provided you are nerd level: Insane.
In theory, the machine could become an etch variety and you could actually carve your selfies in to stone…
“The algorithm chooses the darkest point [of the photo],” says Blankensmith, who works as a designer within Google’s Creative Labs.
“And then within a radius, it looks at 200 other random points. Of those, whichever is darkest is where it draws the next line to. And it repeats that over and over again, until it draws one continuous vector line drawing.”
The result is some what arty but with some customisation and a deeper, intricate plotter, the results could be quite realistic.
